Company Background

About STS

Surveying & Technical Services was established, by Barry Sumpter, in 1983, with the intention of undertaking architectural design management and technical services to other professionals and private clients.

As the mission statement declares the intention of the company is to provide Customer centred service to commercial & residential customers.

Prior to establishing the company Barry had operated a Shopfitting and Building business, working, nationwide, for well known high street names, independent traders and domestic clients. He worked for various building and Construction companies, Land surveyors, Architectural and Engineering practices.

Valuable experience was gained working for a family building company based in Kensington, undertaking alterations, refurbishment and extensions to high value properties in Central London.

In all works carried out the client’s own responses and continued use of STS over many years (some now for nearly thirty years) is testament to the quality of service provided.

STS are now working hard to meet the challenges and demands of today’s developing markets. To do this they are utilising modern methods of construction, Sustainable & Ecologically friendly designs.

STS have long advocated the use of the best of traditional forms of construction adapted to incorporate new materials and technologies. – Underfloor heating, Solar energies both heat and PV systems, Geothermal energies such as ground source heat pumps, Air to water and air to air heat pump technology.

“Shaping and sharing best practice in Architectural design innovations considering and using modern methods of construction, incorporating current ecological & sustainability philosophies and best practice for construction and health and safety risk management. Ensure that the business is flexible ”

Dependant on the buildings being worked on forms of constriction can incorporate, SIPS’s, Green oak, Framed timber & Cold rolled framed metal systems.
Modern Regulations are moving evermore into sustainable design. Houses have to incorporate whole life design concepts. Most higher value homes are now maximising space by including lofts and basements. These require detailed drawings and specification.
